Description: Carnaval is a glorification of the ballroom, with its noisy activities, its motley masquerade, and its secret whisperings of love. Schumann enshrined the spirit of the dance in these romantic miniatures; he himself referred as "a masked ball." Carnaval is not one overall view, but rather a series of glimpses enveloped in the atmosphere of the masquerade. It consists of 21 pieces, each having a descriptive title that somehow relates to the imagined situation of a masked ball. Published by Alfred. Edited by Maurice Hinson.
