Description:
Grade 5 expands on the concepts form earlier levels and presents new ones: sixteenth-note patterns, seventh chords, finger independence, voicing, augmented triads, rubato, and assymetrical rhythms. Students continue to learn about the different eras of music, and refine their skills of pedaling, finger substitution, and musical terminology—so they can play beautifully and intelligently. New keys are E-flat major and C minor. Seven touch releases are presented through various technical exercises and pieces, and correct technique is reinforced.
This book is also available with a CD. The CD reinforces good practice habits with a short, verbal, pedagogical comment between the practice track and performance track. It also provides an opportunity to play with a string quartet accompaniment for some of the pieces.
